Sleeping long enough can support your Sleep Score, but duration is only one part of the view. The score can still be lower when the available data shows more awake time, lower sleep efficiency, a different stage pattern, or an incomplete source record.
Open the score breakdown
Depending on the data available, the breakdown can include:
- time asleep;
- sleep efficiency;
- awake time during the sleep period;
- deep sleep; and
- REM sleep.
Check which component differs from your recent nights. Do not assume that total time in bed and time asleep are the same value.
Check the sleep period
A long sleep window can include extended awake time. If the source recorded you as awake during part of that window, total duration may look adequate while efficiency is lower.
Open the original record and check the start time, end time, awakenings, and total time asleep. If the boundaries are wrong or only part of the night was captured, fix the source issue before interpreting the score.
Treat stage data as an estimate
Wearables estimate deep and REM sleep from sensor signals. They do not measure sleep stages in the same way as a clinical sleep study, and the estimate can vary from night to night.
Check whether stage data is present before treating a low or zero value as real. A missing stage record can reflect the device, fit, charging, settings, permissions, or source support.
Look beyond one night
One lower score after an apparently long night does not prove that the sleep was poor. Compare several complete nights and consider whether bedtime, wake time, awakenings, travel, illness, alcohol, stress, or a change in device use coincided with the result.
The score can describe the recorded night. It cannot diagnose a sleep disorder or identify why you woke up.
Checks to make
- Compare time asleep with the full sleep window.
- Review efficiency and awake time.
- Confirm that deep and REM records are present.
- Check the same night in the connected health platform.
- Confirm device fit, permissions, date, and time zone.
- Compare the next complete night before changing your routine around one score.
Contact support if the source shows a complete night but Zolt does not. Seek qualified medical guidance for persistent sleep problems, loud snoring with breathing pauses, severe daytime sleepiness, or other concerning symptoms.
